broad strokes

di Ulli H.
Hallo, ich verstehe folgenden Satz nicht: "He was by no means a total "rock guy" - that was mor my angle, if broad strokes were drawn."

Den ersten Teil verstehe ich noch, aber den letzten Teil nicht.

Hi Ulli H,

'Broad strokes‘ means 'not very precise’ or 'simplistic' – imagine painting someone’s portrait, but using a broad paint-brush: you would see the general shape and main features, but not get a very detailed picture.

Some better explanations;

So, in German, maybe 'holzschnittartig‘?
