www.sfs.uni-tuebingen.deBulTreeBank ist ein Kollaborationsprojekt der Forschergruppe um Kiril Simov an der Bulgarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Sofia und der Abteilung Computerlinguistik am SfS. Ziel von BulTreeBank ist es, eine große Baumbank von HPSG-artig annotierten bulgarischen Sätzen zu erstellen, welche der Entwicklung weiterer bulgarischer Korpora dienen soll.
Im Rahmen des Projektes sollen zwei Grammatiken erstellt werden: eine HPSG-Grammatik des Bulgarischen und eine Grammatik, die für partielles Parsing geeignet ist.
Des weiteren entwickelt BulTreeBank XML-basierte Software zur Arbeit mit Baumbanken.

Within the framework of this project, we plan to construct two grammars: an HPSG grammar of Bulgarian and a grammar suitable for partial parsing.

Auf Seiten der Implementierungsplattform wurde mit dem Übergang vom 1997 abgeschlossenen ConTroll-System zu Trale aufgrund der Erfahrungen von Gerald Penn mit dem von ihm geführten ALE-System der Versuch eingeläutet, die bisherige Orientierung an theoretischer Sprachwissenschaft, die ConTroll besonders stark kennzeichnete, mit den von ALE bereitgestellten Methoden des effizienten Parsing zu verbinden.
Zur Unterstützung dieses Projektzieles wurden das Syntaxfragment des Deutschen für Trale umgeschrieben und durch die Analyse weiterer syntaktischer Phänomenbereiche theorieorientiert erweitert.

Gerald Penn's experiences with ALE inspired its merger with ConTroll to form TRALE. This marriage of the systems gave us the best of both worlds. While ConTroll was emphatically characterized by our orientation toward theoretical linguistics, ALE availed to us efficient methods of parsing.
To re-enforce the objectives of the project, the syntax fragment of German was re-written for TRALE and expanded by further syntactic phenomena, which was prompted by theoretical linguistics.

Das Parsing RFC 822- konform zu bekommen kostete mich erstaunlich viel Zeit, die aber nicht für ein individuelles, besonders kniffliges Stück Code draufging, sondern weil es eine Menge Details gab, die alle voneinander abhängig waren und peinlich genaue Implementation erforderten.
Die Verbesserung lohnte sich aber; die Multidrop-Adressierung stellte sich als eine exzellente Design-Entscheidung heraus.
