Renewable energies Following consultations with GIZ, the Brazilian regulatory authority ANEEL has introduced net metering on a nationwide basis.
Under net metering, every Brazilian consumer with their own photovoltaic installation, small wind turbine or bioelectricity generator is compensated for producing their own energy and feeding it back into the grid.
Connection to the grid is conducted in an unbureaucratic manner and the electricity fed into the grid is calculated according to the appropriate consumption tariff.

She also lectures as one of TED Talks’s Senior Fellows, recently co-founded a company called EpiBone that grows living bone for skeletal reconstruction, teaches a bioelectricity course at Cooper Union, and experiments at an alternative Brooklyn lab called Genspace – a sort of hacker space for scientists.
