Aus jener Zeit meldet uns der Vogteiverwalter Pappus von Bludenz, dass GARGELLEN ein Vieh- und Molkenreiches Tal sei und bemerkt, dass hier schon immer eine Herberge für die Passgänger bestanden habe.
1766 erhielt der Ort einen Priester, der jedoch im Winter nicht amtierte, weil auch die Bevölkerung dann ins Tal hinunter zog.

It was during this period that the bailiff administrator Pappus von Bludenz described Gargellen as a valley rich in cattle and dairy products, and wrote that the village had always been the site of an inn catering for travellers crossing the pass.
In 1766 the village had its own priest, although at that time he only officiated during the summer months, because the population returned to their homes down in the valley for the winter.
