Obwohl bekannt ist, dass V. Cholerae von Natur aus in den Ästuaren Westbengalens vorkommt, gibt es bisher keine systematischen Studien zur kausalen Beziehung zwischen wasserchemischen Parametern und der saisonalen Dynamik der Choleraausbrüche.
Im Projekt BIOVIBEN geht es darum, diese Zusammenhänge in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases ( NICED ) in Kolkata genauer zu erforschen.
