Bereits 1996 wechselte Holger Scheer in die Privatwirtschaft, wo er zunächst als Niederlassungsleiter der AEW Plan GmbH für Abfall, Energie, Wasser in Hannover tätig war.
2000 kam er zur Emscher und Lippe Ges. für Wassertechnik mbH, zunächst als Prokurist und Techn. Leiter, heute als Geschäftsführer beider Gesellschaften.
