Die 1. Schlundfurche bzw. Schlundtasche bildet mit dem sie umgebenden Mesenchym des 1. und 2. Pharyngealbogens die zahlreichen kleinen Anteile des Mittelohrs und den Meatus externus.
Die 2., 3. und 4. Schlundfurche obliterieren und bilden die Oberfläche des Halses.
