Im Waldteil des Benrather Schlossparkes findet man neben Moosen, Farnen und Gräsern eine Vielzahl von blühenden Pflanzen, die unter dem Laubdach der Bäume und Sträucher wachsen.
Die meisten Waldblumen – darunter Aaronstab, Buschwindröschen, Sauerklee, Scharbockskraut, Hahnenfuß und Goldnessel - blühen weiß oder gelb im zeitigen Frühjahr, bevor das dichte Blätterdach der Bäume und die reiche Palette der Straucharten den Waldboden allzu sehr beschatten.
Die Gewässer des Benrather Schlossparks wurden ursprünglich von der Itter gespeist.
