Im Rahmen seiner Taetigkeit als Forscher befasst er sich hauptsaechlich mit neuartigen technologischen und organisatorischen Verkehrsloesungen, u.a. neue Kraftstoffe.
Bevor er sich dem IPTS anschloss, forschte er zwei Jahre lang an der Technischen Universitaet von Dänemark als ausserordentlicher Professor in Verkehrstelematik im Bereich Strassennutzungsgebuehren auf Entfernungsbasis.
