Das Arbeitsgebiet „ Flammgeschützte Kunststoffe “ beschäftigt sich mit der Modifizierung von vorwiegend thermoplastischen Kunststoffen mit halogenfreien und halogenhaltigen Flammschutzmitteln und auch synergistischen Mischungen zur Erreichung entsprechender flammwidriger Polymereigenschaften.
Die flammfest ausgerüsteten Composites können sowohl mittels Extrusionsverfahren als auch durch Einsatz reaktiver Comonomerer im Syntheseverfahren ( z.B. flammfest ausgerüstete Polyester ) hergestellt werden.
Die Anwendungsgebiete umfassen vor allem die Elektroindustrie, den Fahrzeugbau und den Baubereich.
