Estranged from their father, they spend their time in the nearby forest, where they encounter the injured puppy Ululu, which they bring home and take care of it.
When they find out that it actually is a baby Ezo wolf , which are believed to be extinct , the kids realize they cannot keep it and try to return it to its mother .
