Nach dem Abitur machte sie eine Ausbildung zur Buchhändlerin und studierte Amerikanistik, Psychologie und Literaturwissenschaften in Potsdam und an der New York University.
Während ihres Studiums schrieb sie u.a. für die Berliner Seiten der F.A.Z. und die taz und arbeitete am Wings-Theater in New York als Beleuchterin.
Im Wintersemester 2004 / 2005 war Antje Rávic Strubel Gastdozentin am Deutschen Literaturinstitut der Universität Leipzig.
