Das ursprüngliche Kesselhaus im klassizistischen Baustil wurde durch ein junges Architektenteam zum „ Ampere “ umgestaltet und beherbergt darüber hinaus die Verwaltungsräume der Muffathalle Betriebs GmbH.

Bekrönt wird das Kesselhaus durch die beiden symmetrisch angeordneten Kamine, deren obere Hälfte durch die markante Rot-weiß-rot-Färbung als Landmark dienen soll.
Während das Kesselhaus nur an der Südseite Fenster aufweist, scheint das Dach des Turbinenhauses durch ein umlaufendes Obergaden-Lichtband zu schweben.

The boiler house is crowned with the two symmetrically arranged stacks, the upper sections of which serve as a landmark with striking red-white-red colouring.
While the boiler house only has windows on the south side, the roof of the turbine hall appears to hover due to the surrounding clerestory that admits a strip of light.
