Ausgangssituation Einem fehlgeschlagenen Putschversuch im September 2002 gegen den Präsidenten Gbagbo folgte die geografische und politische Teilung des Landes in einen von den Regierungstruppen gehaltenen Süden und den von Rebellengruppen gehaltenen Norden.
Ende 2007 begann die Demobilisierung und die Entwaffnung in beiden Regionen des Landes.

Context After a failed coup attempt against President Gbagbo in 2002, Côte d’Ivoire was geographically and politically divided, with government troops controlling the south of the country, and rebel groups the northern areas.
Starting at the end of 2007, demobilisation and disarmament took place in both regions of the country.

In diesem Zusammenhang missbilligen wir die von der sudanesischen Regierung im April und Mai in Norddarfur durchgeführten Bombenangriffe sowie die Angriffe der Rebellengruppen auf AMIS-Personal und rufen alle Seiten mit Nachdruck auf, die bestehenden Waffenstillstandsvereinbaru... sowie ihre in der Resolution 1591 des VN-Sicherheitsrats festgelegten Verpflichtungen einzuhalten.
Diejenigen, die die Menschenrechte von Zivilpersonen in Darfur verletzen, müssen zur Verantwortung gezogen werden, und wir werden Bemühungen unterstützen, diejenigen, die Gräueltaten verüben, vor Gericht zu bringen.

In this context, we deplore the bombings carried out by the Government of Sudan in North Darfur in April and May as well as the attacks by the rebel factions on AMIS personnel, and urge all sides to abide by the existing ceasefire agreements as well as their obligations established by UN Security Council resolution 1591.
Those violating the human rights of civilians in Darfur must be held responsible and we will support efforts to bring the perpetrators of atrocities to justice.
