www.studium.uni-konstanz.deDie TARGET2-Verbindlichkeit der OeNB, die sich seit Beginn der Währungsunion kontinuierlich aufgebaut hat, betrug Ende 2012 rund 40 Mrd EUR, was bedeutet, dass über TARGET2 und das Vorläufersystem TARGET mehr Euro-Buchgeld aus Österreich ins Ausland als vom Ausland nach Österreich überwiesen wurde.
Die TARGET2-Verbindlichkeit Österreichs ist das Ergebnis eines strukturellen Zuflusses von Euro-Bargeld, das unbar über TARGET2 Österreich wieder verlässt und ist nicht – wie in einigen Ländern des Euroraums – auf die Finanzkrise zurückzuführen.
Dieser Zufluss von Banknoten resultiert teils aus dem Tourismus, hauptsächlich aber aus den Rücklieferungen von Euro-Bargeld aus Ländern außerhalb der Währungsunion.
www.oenb.atThe OeNB ’s TARGET2 liabilities, which have been accumulating continuously since the start of monetary union, ran to roughly EUR 40 billion at the end of 2012, which means that more euro bank money has been transferred via TARGET2 ( and its predecessor TARGET ) from Austria to other countries than from other countries to Austria.
Austria’s TARGET2 liabilities result from structural inflows of euro cash which leave Austria as noncash flows via TARGET2. Unlike in some euro area countries, they do not result from the financial crisis.
This inflow of euro cash can be attributed in part to tourism, but mainly to the physical shipment of euro banknotes into Austria from countries outside the euro area.
