Results achieved so far Up to now, 29,000 victims, most of whom live in remote regions, have been actively involved in investigating crimes by illegal groups with the help of mobile court rooms presented to the Office of the Public Prosecutor by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2008.
This has enabled the victims to testify in 75 broadcasts, each lasting several days, and to take part in the hearings of paramilitaries who confessed to their crimes.
By modernising DNA laboratories, it has been possible to identify the remains of many victims.
