Anschließend arbeitete Christoph Beier bis 1996 als wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Lehrstuhl für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeographie am Geographischen Institut der Ruhr-Universität Bochum, an der er promovierte.

Laufende Vorhaben sind derzeit Projekte im Bereich der Mikrokredite und der Reformierung des Kreditwesens in ländlichen Gebieten, der Bau eines Solar Photovoltaik Kraftwerks, die Verbesserung der ländlichen Wasserversorgung durch die Rehabilitierung von Wassereinzugsgebieten und Erosionsschutz, und ebenso die Förderung von Ureinwohner- Gruppen (Adivasi) durch verschiedene Entwicklungsprogramme.
Die Projektstandorte befinden sich hauptsächlich in Gujarat, Maharashtra und Madhya Pradesh.
