- The baccalauréat is the final exam for secondary school students, and the entrance requirement for university. The state sets the content and timing of this exam for the whole country. In Belgium, there is no exam of this type. Students receive a diploma, the CESS (Certificat d'Enseignement Secondaire Supérieur).
