- A learner driver who has passed the theory part of the driving test (code de la route) in a state-approved driving school is allowed to practise driving a vehicle accompanied by a certified driver over the age of 28. Such drivers are not allowed to drive on autoroutes and are required to have a white sticker with a red 'A' (for apprenant) displayed on the rear of their vehicle. → permis
